2020 Topps Finest Baseball sticks with the brand’s identity of chromium cards that are colorful in more ways than one. Sure, there’s the usual Refractor rainbow. But the color goes beyond that with the set having it more engrained into the designs than a lot of other cards on chrome stock.
Hobby boxes continue to come split into a pair of mini boxes. Master hobby boxes have two autographs and a handful of inserts and Refractors.
2020 Topps Finest Baseball Base Set Basics
The base set starts with a 100-card main set. As usual for Finest, the design doesn’t hold back, opting for something busy and with lots of lines.
Parallels add the familiar shine in the form of Refractors. The lineup includes:
- Refractors – (1:3 packs)
- Purple Refractors – /250
- Blue Refractors – /150
- Green Refractors – /50
- Orange Refractors – /25
- Red Refractors – /5
- Superfractors – 1/1
On top of the 100-card shell set, there’s a 25-card Extended base set. These are short prints that are noticeably tougher to pull. Parallels for these are limited to Gold Refractors (/50), Red Refractors (/5) and Superfractors (1/1).
Inserts
2020 Topps Finest has four different regular insert sets. Some are returning, one’s making a comeback after a 20-year absence and one is new.
Finest Firsts (1:12 packs) highlight rookies. This is now a staple for the brand.
Also back for another year are Finest Careers Die-Cut (1:48 packs). This year’s honoree is Ichiro. Cards here look back on his career, highlighting some of Ichiro’s biggest moments and most impressive achievements.
The Man isn’t a Becky Lynch-inspired WWE crossover. Rather, these inserts were last seen (and first seen) back in 1998 Finest Baseball. At 1:3 packs, these are the easiest inserts to pull in 2020 Finest.
Finally, there’s Finest Duals (1:6 packs), which is new to the brand. These cards pair up teammates.
All four of these insert sets have the same three levels of parallels: Gold Refractors (/50), Red Refractors (/5) and Superfractors (1/1).
Autographs
Finest Autographs adapt the base set design. And like the base set, there are enough Refractors to build a rainbow:
- Blue Refractors – /150
- Green Refractors – /99
- Green Wave Refractors – /99
- Gold Refractors – /50
- Orange Refractors – /25
- Orange Wave Refractors – /25
- Red Refractors – /5
- Red Wave Refractors – /5
- Superfractors – 1/1
Finest First Autographs carry over from the regular inserts, offering signatures for select cards. Parallels here line up with the Finest Autographs.
Some Finest Duals and The Man cards also have autographs with their own Orange Refractor (/25), Red Refractor (/5) and Superfractor (1/1) parallels
Finest Moments Autographs is a standalone set of signatures that also have Gold Refractor (/50), Orange Refractor (/25), Red Refractor (/5) and Superfractor (1/1) versions.
The signatures round out with Finest Careers Die-Cut Autographs (/10), buyback Finest Originals Autographs (/20) and Finest Mystery Redemptions.
