The buybacks are back. 2022 Topps Archives Signature Series Active Player Edition Baseball takes old cards and makes them new again with the stroke of a signature and a small foil stamp.
Like past years, the concept is both simple and complex. Boxes contain a single card. At its foundation, it’s not an original card. Rather, it’s something from a past Topps-branded release. The cards then get an autograph — on-card — to give it an upcycled effect.
Base cards, inserts and even some memorabilia cards are possible. Dual autographs are also randomly inserted.
Individual cards are also serial numbered and given a gold foil stamp noting the year it was put out.
Although the checklist consists entirely of current players, this is where things get a little complicated. Topps doesn’t typically release a complete checklist of every individual card in the product. There’ll likely be a list of signers but not much beyond that.
Virtually every card in the product has a small individual print run. This includes a lot stamped 1/1. But those aren’t likely the only cards a player signed. They may have lots of different cards.
Cards come in a holder that’s sealed with a Topps label.
