2022 Donruss Baseball kicks off a new card season for Panini, bringing with it some bold looks, a dash of nostalgia and a multiple generations of players.
At the hobby level, hits land at a rate of three per box — one of which is an autograph. Hobby packs also average at least one parallel.
2022 Donruss Baseball Checklist Overview
As has been the case for several years, the 2022 Donruss base set has a few different sections. Among them are 50 Rated Rookies, highlighting some of the top first-year players.
Among the parallels are Holo Blue. Exclusive to hobby packs, these work out to one per pack, or 24 per box. Collectors can also expect four Independence Day and one Liberty parallel per box.
Inserts play a major role in 2022 Donruss, many of which bring with them distinct designs.
Ten of baseball’s best home run hitters are found in Bomb Squad, one of several inserts that stand out even more thanks to their patterned foil background.
Unleashed is another set focused on top hitters. These look to the wild for their design.
Whammy returns as a case hit. These look to caricature-style artwork to showcase big-name superstars.
Other inserts include Rated Prospects, Dominator, Elite Series and The Hit List.
Signature Series return. They’re among four different autograph sets on the checklist. Others include Superstar Scribbles, Classics Autographs and Monikers.
Retro 1988 Materials offer a throwback with their design. Nearly 100 players will have swatches in the set.
A couple of baseball personalities, The Famous San Diego Chicken and Domingo Ayala, are both back for another year in 2022 Donruss.
