After teasing a few card images on Thursday, Topps released the basic product breakdown for its forthcoming 2010 Bowman Draft Picks & Prospects baseball card set on Friday morning.
Scheduled for release in mid-December, it will include one Chrome autograph per 24-pack hobby box and each 12-box case will include just one 16U USA Baseball team autograph card.
The Draft Picks & USA Baseball Stars checklist includes 110cards each with Red and Blue standard Bowman parallels along with the full run of Chrome parallels as well (SuperFractor, Red, Orange, Gold,Blue and standard). The Rookies checklist includes 110 players with both standard and Chrome cards to be found.
The Chrome autograph checklist includes 43 players — 25 prospects and 18 members of the 16U USA team. Each of these cards will be found with the standard parallels, while a Stephen Strasburg Chrome autograph card is listed as a rookie variation card.
Interestingly, the preliminary checklist is chock-full of TBD’s — players to be determined — as many of this year’s top draft picks have not yet signed. The Chrome autograph checklist includes 13 such TBDs (out of 25 total) but the players already on the list include Kolbrin Vitek, Matt Lipka, Bryce Brentz, Jake Skole, Justin O’Conner and others.
The base set leads off with Strasburg but is a set that includes several 2010 rookies who have had pretty good minor-league seasons and good amounts of playing time this season — Starlin Castro, IkeDavis, Brennan Boesch, Austin Jackson, Jose Tabata, Mike Stanton, Drew Storen, Jason Heyward, Buster Posey, Logan Morrison, Carlos Santana, Domonic Brown, Dayan Viciedo, J.P. Arencibia and many more.While most of these players previously appeared on Bowman prospect cards, these latest cards will carry the RC logo and will offer fans yet another chance to add to their player collections.
The Futures Stars portion of the set also is largely TDB — less than one-third of the set announced — while the 16U USA set is TBD as well because the roster will not be finalized until October.
