If you thought Robert Griffin III and Andrew Luck autograph cards were going to try dry up this season, don’t worry.

Topps previewed 2013 Topps Chrome Football showing off base cards, inserts, and autographs – with Robert Griffin III and Andrew Luck sandwiched between the rookies on the autograph checklist.

Chrome is usually known for having all rookie autographs, but perhaps Topps changed it up in attempt to re-capture last year’s excitement along with bolstering a rookie class that is short on hype.

There will be one on-card rookie autograph in every hobby box. Each pack will contain four cards, including one Rookie Card, and each hobby box will have 24 packs.



The Rookie Autographs will feature up to 45 different players, most likely the players that will appear at the NFL Players’ Association Rookie Premiere next week. There will be eight refractor parallels: Refractor (numbered to 150), Military (/99), BCA (/75), Black (/25), Prism (/15), Gold (/10), Red (/5) and Printing Plates (1-of-1).

Collectors will also be able to find Rookie Autographs Patches (hobby only), Dual and Tripe Autographs. In addition, Rookie Autographs Variations are back again.



Topps is going into its history once again featuring players on former designs – many of which are highlighted in the upcoming 2013 Topps Archives football.

The inserts include the 1956, 1959, 1969 and 1986 football designs. These designs will also have parallels and on-card autographs variations.

Chrome Rookie Die-Cuts are inserts with a new design.



The base set will consist of 220 cards with 111 veteran subjects and 109 rookies. Thirty veterans cards will feature photo variations and 25 rookie will get the same treatment. And the parallels are extensive for the base set:

- Military (numbered to 499)
- BCA (pink, numbered to 399)
- Prism (Hobby only)
- Black (numbered to 299)
- Blue (numbered to 199)
- Sepia-tone (numbered to 99, hobby only)
