To honor the celebrated return of a new NFL season with tonight’s annual Hall of Fame Game between the Miami Dolphins and Dallas Cowboys (and as a content bridge to get you to tomorrow morning’s must-see recap of the exclusive Panini VIP Party last night in Chicago), we thought we’d offer a special Sunday afternoon sneak peek of 2013 Prizm Football.

The highly anticipated follow-up to last season’s smashing debut, 2013 Prizm Football will hit the hobby in mid-October packing a 300-card base set that includes 100 Rookie Cards, four hobby-exclusive Prizm parallels, the return of popular Rookie Impact and Decade Dominance inserts, and the addition of Monday Night Heroes.

Each 20-pack hobby box of 2013 Prizm Football will 120 total cards. Among them: Two autographs, 20 Rookie Cards, three Prizm parallels and two each of the Rookie Impact, Decade Dominance, Brilliance and Monday Night Heroes inserts.

The base Prizm inserts are paralleled in the hobby edition by Orange Prizm Die-Cuts (numbered to 50), Gold Prizms (numbered to 10) and Finite Black Prizm 1/1s. The product’s calling-card vibrantly colored Prizms also highlight the retail versions of this year’s release, and we’ve provided many of them for your sneak-peek pleasure in the gallery that follows.

Panini America’s Must-See Sunday Gallery: The Many Shades of 2013 Prizm Football

While the football collecting world (including all of us inside Panini America HQ) anxiously awaits the arrival of 2013 Playbook Football (which began packing out Friday, by the way), we needed something on this glorious Week 5 Sunday of the 2013 NFL season to get our gridiron goosebumps growing. What we’ve come up with is a must-see gallery of the hypnotic parallels coming to 2013 Prizm Football, the product that releases after Playbook.

From the captivating Pulsar Reds (Target) and Pulsar Blues (Walmart) to the stunning new Camouflage Prizms, there’s something in the gallery that follows guaranteed to elicit a double take. We’ll follow up in the coming days with more detailed information on the various exclusive homes for these Prizms. But today is all about showing off just some of the bells and whistles that have been added to Prizm Football in its second season.

Panini America Premieres a New-Look HRX in 2013 Prizm Football (Watch It Now)



Panini America’s pioneering HRX Video Trading Cards generated international headlines when they debuted in 2010-11 Totally Certified Basketball more than two years ago. The mere concept of a trading card embedded with an HD-quality screen and up to 20 minutes of video footage was mind-blowing. Panini America’s execution of that concept, well, that was earth-shaking stuff, too.

But when collectors begin busting 2013 Prizm Football tomorrow, they’ll notice a new-look HRX card in every pack. That’s right, we’re bringing a rare experience that once was limited to those lucky enough to pull one of the scarce redemption cards from a pack to the masses.


The first installment of the new-generation HRX concept combines 24 top NFL rookies — including Geno Smith, EJ Manuel, Eddie Lacy and more — with exclusive video footage of each player captured at the 2013 NFLPA Rookie Premiere. The video content is activated when collectors scan the QRL code on the back of each HRX card. But that’s no ordinary QRL code. It requires a special app that is absolutely free and takes less than a minute to download.

After you’ve done that, come right back here because we’re going to give you a chance to watch some early HRX footage from Smith, a Week 7 Pepsi NEXT NFL Rookie of the Week candidate, Denard Robinson and Markus Wheaton.

This new HRX technology will allow players to update their video footage in real time. We’ll also use The Knight’s Lance HRX channel for exclusive episodes of Panini Unwrapped, player interviews and much more. So stay tuned for additional coverage of the next-generation of HRX.
