When Panini America’s 2014 Select Football releases in early December, it won’t take long at all for collectors to discern the many differences between this version and the one that released last season. For starters, there’s an interactive chase element driving the Super Bowl, MVP, Offensive ROY and Defensive ROY inserts that will award collectors holding cards of each category winner with limited-edition Select Prizm sets.

In addition, company officials have injected 2014 Select Football with a total of 15 Select Prizm parallels to chase, including five that are exclusive to Hot Mini Boxes. Each master box of 2014 Limited Football (five cards per pack, five packs per mini box, two mini boxes per master box) will deliver four autograph or memorabilia cards, four Select Prizm parallels and four Rookie Cards. One-per-case Hot Mini Boxes will yield exclusive Mojo Prizm Rookie Cards and two Rookie Mojo Prizm Autographs.


The product’s highlights are many and include . . .

• The Rookie Autograph Jersey subset honoring the top newcomers from the 2014 NFL Draft on cards featuring a collectible array of variations including base (numbered to 149 or less), Prizm (numbered to 99 or less), Fuschia Prizm (numbered to 75 or less), Prime Purple (numbered to 15 or less), Brand Green (numbered to five or less) and Black Tag 1/1s.
• Mini Hot Box-exclusive Rookie Autograph Jersey inserts include Mojo (numbered to 75 or less), Red Mojo (numbered to 25 or less), Blue Mojo (numbered to 15 or less), Prime Purple Mojo (numbered to five or less) and Tag Gold Mojo 1/1s.
• The unique Award Selection interactive chase features cards honoring MVP, Super Bowl, Offensive ROY and Defensive ROY candidates. If you collected the cards of the winners, you can redeem it for a limited-edition Select Mojo Prizm set. These interactive cards are sure to heat up as favorites start emerging later in the season.
• Look for the return of popular Select inserts such as Rookie Autographs, Select Rookie Jerseys and Select Stars Jersey Autographs in all of the colorful, Prizm majesty mentioned above.

As the 2014 NFL season sprints into the heart of playoff-positioning season, it’s safe to say that things are heating up on the field. Obviously, it’s pretty hot in hobby shops across the country, too. Even as Panini America’s most recent football releases — including 2014 Limited Football, 2014 Totally Certified Football and 2014 Crown Royale Football — continue fanning the collecting flames with key cards honoring one of the most impressive rookie crops in recent memory, company officials are gearing up for some epic final stages of the 2014 product season.

Next up: 2014 Select Football, the Optichrome-based, Prizm-packed powerhouse that releases in hobby shops across North America on Wednesday. Each master hobby box of 2014 Select Football (two mini boxes per master) delivers — on average — four autograph or memorabilia cards and four Prizms. In addition, scarce Rookie Mojo mini boxes fall roughly once per case and will include exclusive Rookie Mojo Prizm cards.


There’s also a cool interactive component to 2014 Select Football surrounding the set’s Super Bowl Champion, Offensive Rookie of the Year, Defensive Rookie of the Year and MVP inserts that we’ll have complete details on early next week.
