2015 Topps Heritage WWE Autographs Gallery
1985 was a big year for pop culture. “We Are the World” was a movement. Madonna ascended the throne as queen of pop. Marty McFly went back in time. Garbage Pail Kids came to be. If you’re a child of the ’80s, you could probably go on and on about Goonies, the Pinapple Sticker Club and much more. As far as sports cards go, 1985 Topps Baseball is one of the decade’s top designs.
So much so that it’s the basis for many parts of 2015 Topps Heritage WWEincluding its main autograph lineup. In a sign of the quickly passing times, several of the signers were either not even born or not old enough for school when Mark McGwire’s rookie card hit.
A total of 13 signers make up the 2015 Topps Heritage WWE Autographs checklist. While the autographs in the last WWE Heritage release in 2012 focused heavily on retired stars, this time around it’s the opposite. Most are currently active with a couple of Legends sprinkled in.
Highlights include Roman Reigns, Daniel Bryan, John Cena, Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose.
A trio of autograph debuts are also in the set: Finn Bálor, Sasha Banks and Hideo Itami. All three are NXT standouts (or, in Banks’ instance, was until recently). Early on, these three have been some of the most popular cards in the set.
A pair of WWE Hall of Famers have autographs in 2015 Topps Heritage WWE, Pat Patterson and Alundra Blayze. For Patterson, this is his first time signing. Blayze signed in 1999 Topps WCW Embossed as Madusa. This is her first autograph appearance in a WWE set.
Virtually all of the main autographs are signed on-card. This has been the exception in a lot of WWE products until recently. The lone exception is John Cena. His signature comes on a sticker. Neville is the only redemption.
Base autographs have four parallels: Black (/50), Silver (/25), Gold (/10) and Red (1/1).
In addition to the basic autographs, 2015 Topps WWE Heritage has a signed subset dedicated to wrestlers connected to the NWO over the years. While a couple of them are core members of the faction, the checklist highlights how bloated it became. Kevin Nash, Big Show (the The Giant) and X-Pac are famous for helping make the NWO a thing. But then there’s Shawn Michaels and Bret Hart who are technically, but only in passing.
The NWO Autographs are tough pulls at 1:429 hobby packs. These come with a different design and all use stickers.
