While Panini America still has a few bombshell basketball releases still to come to help close out the 2014-15 NBA collecting season, an exciting new start to next season is right around the corner, too — and will begin once again with the release of the company’s iconic NBA Hoops brand. Due to arrive in hobby shops across North America on October 14, 2015-16 NBA Hoops Basketball will deliver all the trademark niceties — such as full-color action photography and the first NBA Rookie Cards of the top draft picks — that have made it the calling-card release for a new year.

Each hobby box of 2015-16 NBA Hoops Basketball (12 cards per pack, 24 packs per box, 20 boxes per case) will deliver two autographs and at least 20 inserts or parallels including seven numbered to cards. The product also includes the return of the highly collectible Road to the Finals insert that chronicles every game from the 2015 NBA postseason, including short-printed inserts celebrating the NBA Champion Golden State Warriors.


Other highlights of 2015-16 NBA Hoops Basketball include . . .

• A new slew of promising pros with the first officially licensed NBA Rookie Cards and autographs from the stacked 2015 NBA Draft Class including Karl-Anthony Towns, D’Angelo Russell and Jahlil Okafor.

• Rare insert cards in Kobe’s All-Rookie Team, Champions and the all-new Triple-Double that commemorates each triple-double performance of the 2014-15 season.

• Follow each and every team throughout the 2015 NBA Postseason in Road to the Finals. The later the series, the rarer the card. Think you can collect the entire set?

• Remember Kyrie Irving’s 57-point performance? How about Klay Thompson’s 37-point quarter? Relive all of the 2014-15 NBA season’s best highlights in the short-printed Highlights insert.

• The stunning photography of Bird’s Eye View returns for another season.

• 2015-16 NBA Hoops delivers the first officially licensed autographs of the 2015 NBA Rookie Class. Look for more than 35 rookies in Hot Signatures and the rare Red Hot Signatures parallels.

Panini America Offers an Unexpected Sneak Peek at 2015-16 NBA Hoops Basketball



I stepped away from my desk earlier this morning to take a quick phone call from my oldest son, who was at home with his younger brother enjoying one of those blissful “Teacher In-Service Days.” As I ducked into the dark main conference room inside Panini America HQ, I scanned the four corners and took quick inventory of the products on display while listening to my 14-year-old talk about his Nutter Butter breakfast. That’s when I noticed what appeared to be a partially broken box of 2015-16 NBA Hoops Basketball in the back corner of the room.

I encouraged my kid to at least mix in a little milk and rushed off the phone for a closer look at this particular box of 2015-16 NBA Hoops Basketball, a product that doesn’t release for another 11 days. As far as I could tell, this was an early box off the production line probably brought over for a production meeting earlier this week.


The box was missing some cards but what remained was more than enough to provide an unexpected preview of the first NBA product of the 2015-16 season. After showing the cards to Panini America Brand Manager Cory Hollingsworth, he informed me that many of them were short-printed inserts from the product.

Obviously, we’ll have plenty more to preview on 2015-16 NBA Hoops Basketball in the coming days. But for now, enjoy the random results of one happened-upon box that made for an unexpected Friday morning diversion.

The Panini America Quality Control Gallery: 2015-16 NBA Hoops Basketball (150+ Pics)



If you’re a frequent visitor to The Knight’s Lance, the first thing you’ll likely notice about the Quality Control Gallery that follows is that it’s substantially more image-packed than most of the ones you’ve enjoyed. But there’s a perfectly good reason for that: Panini America’s upcoming 2015-16 NBA Hoops Basketball is more substantial than any NBA Hoops product in recent memory.

The designs are crisp. The inserts abound. The photography is compelling. The chase elements are worthy. The subtle use of foilboard is a welcome departure. In short, 2015-16 NBA Hoops Basketball is the quintessential way to tipoff the 2015-16 NBA collecting season. And we’ve got more than 150 images worth of proof in the gallery below.


Late last week, Panini America Product Development officials spent some quality time over at the production facility across town Quality Controlling the first product of the 2015-16 NBA season in preparation for next Wednesday’s release date. On average, each hobby box of 2015-16 NBA Hoops Basketball will deliver two autographs, 24 Rookie Cards, seven numbered cards, three Red Back variations, two Gold parallels, one Green parallel, one Bird’s Eye View, one Courtside, one Team Leaders and one Triple-Double.

The product also features the roughly one-per-case Kobe’s All-Rookie Team inserts and the short-printed Road to the Finals insert that chronicles every playoff game from last season. We’ll have plenty more on 2015-16 NBA Hoops Basketball in the coming days right here on The Knight’s Lance.
