Since its debut in the hobby, The Walking Dead has been a juggernaut of a trading card license. And all the elements that have made it successful return for 2016 Cryptozoic Walking Dead Season 4 Part 1.

A lot of details still need to be fleshed out, but autographs, memorabilia cards and sketch cards are are part of the plans.


Season 4 starts with Woodbury trying to establish some new norms. Rick Grimes had long been the de facto leader of the group but he wanted to step back following some pretty heavy happenings. Across the way is the Governor and his group. Needless to say, there’s tension, conflict and lots of zombies to get between both groups as they try to survive.

The 2016 Cryptozoic Walking Dead Season 4 Part 1 base set has 72 cards. All use images from the show and recap key story points. Like Season 3, Cryptozoic is going with two separate sets for the fourth season. This is in large part because of licensing and the fact that the card maker can only use so many characters in a given release. So what isn’t told here will become a part of the eventual Part 2 release.

Leading the chase are the autographs. In the past, many of the main cast have been included.

Wardrobe Cards featuring clothing worn in the show by characters from the main case, Woodbury, Walkers and the Termites of Terminus. Similar Prop Cards have items used in the making of the show.

Sketch cards are also back. Expect these to showcase detailed character likenesses.

2016 Cryptozoic Walking Dead Season 4 Part 1 has three basic insert sets as well: Character Bios, Terminus and Posters.

Foil parallels are available for select cards.

A binder for the set is available separately.

2016 Walking Dead Season 4 Autographs Checklist Include Andrew Lincoln, Norman Reedus




With both the 2016 Cryptozoic Walking Dead Season 4 Part 1 and Part 2 sets slated to arrive a short time apart, the autograph checklists for both have some overlap. But, like all of their previous lineups for the show, they both include key players among the show’s leads. Exactly how many remains to be seen.


Among those in both sets are Andrew Lincoln (Rick Grimes) and Norman Reedus (Daryl Dixon), arguably the most important people on the show. Highlights on the Part 1 autographs checklist also include Emily Kinney (Beth) and Chad L. Coleman (Tyreese). So far, both only signed for season three sets before this. The Part 2 checklist has Andrew J. West (Gareth) and Lawrence Gilliard Jr, among others.

These are the final sets of Walking Dead trading cards from Cryptozoic who have held the license since season one. Topps is taking over starting with season five in the fall. Topps has also launched a Walking Dead trading card app.

The latest schedule has 2016 Cryptozoic Walking Dead Season 4 Part 1 releasing on May 25 and Part 2 about a month later on June 29. Both are subject to change.
