Panini America Takes Glorious First Look at Upcoming 2016 Flawless Soccer (Gallery)



Panini America executives made major collectibles industry waves during the company’s annual Tuesday corporate address earlier this week at the 2016 Industry Summit, shedding light on several interesting developments sure to grip collectors for the better part of the coming year. We’ll get into some of the more intriguing announcements from Tuesday’s address at a later date. Today, however, we’re focusing on the upcoming juggernaut known as 2016 Flawless Soccer.

Panini America’s upcoming high-end soccer release was first referenced during Tuesday’s corporate address and almost immediately sent collecting’s social media universe buzzing. As luck would have it, the first finished cards for 2016 Flawless Soccer started arriving back at Panini America HQ in the last several days, hot off the presses from the company’s production facility.


In the gallery that follows, we offer a preliminary pre-ink peek at just some of the gems planned for the product, including Cristiano Ronaldo, Tim Howard, Xavi Hernandez and Guillermo Ochoa. Trust us, there will be many more previews (and a lot more players) to come — especially after these beauties are signed.

2016 Panini Flawless Soccer brings sport into super-premium territory




The market for soccer cards has been growing tremendously over the past couple of years. 2016 Panini Flawless Soccer takes it into territory that side of the hobby hasn’t seen. While there have been high-end products, none marketed in the North American market have come close to the super-premium nature of the Flawless brand.

2016 Panini Flawless Soccer boxes have ten cards. Six are autographs, two have match-used memorabilia and two are gem base cards. Everything is numbered to 25 or less. Unlike other Panini soccer products that have stickers, Flawless features on-card signatures.

Base Set





2016 Panini Flawless Soccer covers both international play and some of the top pro clubs in the world like Real Madrid and Bayern Munich. Players are both current and retired legends.

Like other Flawless sets, each base card has a diamond embedded in it. Parallels come in a few different levels, each with a different gem: Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald. There’s another parallel that has a larger diamond.


Autographs



As mentioned, 2016 Panini Flawless Soccer features hard-signed autographs. This is an upgrade from their earlier soccer releases that have relied on stickers.

Signed cards come in several forms and themes. Legendary Signatures look to some of the game’s past stars. Flawless Finishes highlight big goal situations. International Icons features players from the world stage.

Some autographs also have pieces of memorabilia. Momentous Autographs Memorabilia and Dual Patch Autographs both have two pieces of match-worn memorabilia. Sole of the Game Signatures come with pieces of game-used cleats.

Here are some confirmed signers for 2016 Panini Flawless Soccer: Pelé, Cristiano Ronaldo, James Rodriguez, Lionel Messi, Roberto Baggio, Alan Shearer, Mario Gotze, Joe Hart, Luis Suarez, Steven Gerrard,  Tim Howard, Sir Bobby Charlton, Franz Beckenbauer, Carlos Valderrama,  Xavier Hernandez, Jurgen Klinsmann, Hugo Sanchez, Mesut Ozil, Daniel Alves, and Gianluigi Buffon.


Memorabilia Cards




All swatches in the product come from gear worn in games. Nothing is strictly player-worn or from a photo shoot. According to Panini, many of the pieces came directly from the athletes themselves.

2016 Panini Flawless Soccer looks beyond kits and jerseys. Studs (/10 or less) have a pair of studs from the bottom of a pair of cleats. Tools of the Trade comes over to the sport with pieces from different types of equipment like jerseys, boots, gloves, socks and shorts.

The ongoing development process for Panini America’s upcoming 2016 Flawless Soccer has enjoyed a few solid weeks in terms of incoming autographs as some of the greatest players in the world have been on the sending end of some truly special deliveries. Luckily, Panini America HQ has been on the receiving end.

In the gallery that follows, we showcase some of those stunners as a means of providing a visual update on how things are progressing for one of the most anticipated soccer trading card products ever. Included among the images below are jaw-dropping gems signed by such international superstars as Bastian Schweinsteiger, Arjen Robben, Marcelo, Harry Kane, Xavi Hernandez, Guillermo Ochoa, Toni Kroos, Oscar, Alan Shearer and Clint Dempsey.

Flawless First Steps: Pioneering Studs Insert Starts Flawless Soccer on the Right Foot

One week from today, Panini America’s new 2016 Flawless Soccer product will arrive in hobby shops across North America, sealed in the Flawless brand’s trademark metal briefcase packaging. To be sure, those briefcases won’t be sealed for long. Easily one of the most anticipated sports card releases of the entire year, 2016 Flawless Soccer is equipped to surpass even the most heightened expectations.

We’ve spent some time over the last several months showing you bits and pieces of the coming brilliance. But now that we’re just one week away from release, we’re about to ramp up our preview procedures here on The Knight’s Lance considerably, beginning with the simply sublime Studs insert.

To be sure, the unique match-worn cleats cards you’ll see in the gallery that follows certainly live up to the insert name by incorporating the studs from cleats worn by studs such as Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Harry Kane and many more. Pioneering and innovative, the Studs cards are unlike just about any other you’ve ever seen.

Flawless Friday: Panini America Peeks More Signature Moves from 2016 Flawless Soccer





You’ve probably noticed on The Knight’s Lance this week a marked increase in preview coverage for Panini America’s highly anticipated 2016 Flawless Soccer. Wednesday we unleashed a galleryfeaturing the stunning Studs insert. Yesterday, we showcased the special U.S. Soccer card featuring a staggering 115 precious gems. Today, though, is all about the ink.

We’ve already previewed some of Flawless Soccer’s autographs as they’ve arrived in house. The gallery that follows includes some of those gems and a whole lot more.
