2016 Topps Rogue One: A Star Wars Story Series 1 trading cards follow the saga’s first spinoff film. Taking a path similar to The Force Awakens, characters and early story details take the spotlight on the checklist. For those chasing premium elements, hobby boxes have two total autographs, sketch cards or medallions.
Releasing the same day that the film hits theaters, some elements for 2016 Topps Rogue One: A Star Wars Story are still under wraps. This includes the general design for much of the product.
Base Set
A total of 100 cards make up the 2016 Topps Rogue One: A Star Wars Story base set. With a new group of characters, and a couple of familiar faces, there is plenty of new material and lore to draw from. The story takes place before the original Star Wars film and centers around the Death Star and the Rebel Alliance’s attempt at getting the plans to the super base.
With a configuration that’s similar to a lot of other recent Star Wars sets, parallels are plentiful. Each pack has at least one.
Parallel levels include Death Star (one per pack), Green Squad (1:2), Blue Squad (1:4), Gray Squad (/100), Gold Squad (/50) and Orange Squad (1/1). The numbered parallels are only in hobby packs.
Autographs and Premium Inserts
Autographs lead the chase in 2016 Topps Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Signers and odds haven’t been confirmed as of yet. While the first Force Awakens set used a lot of familiar actors and faces, Rogue One is built on new characters so one would imagine that no matter the size of the autograph checklist, things should be fresh.
Dual and triple autographs are both tough to pull and exclusive to hobby packs.
Sketch cards use original art done directly on the card by Star Wars-approved artists.
Medallions come with four different levels: Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum.
