Things are getting bigger with 2017 Topps High Tek Baseball. Boxes are jumping from eight cards to 40. Now there are two autographs instead of one. Topps is promising more patterns to chase. And the price tag? With more cards, that’s gone up, too.



Base Set

As with past years of Topps Tek, whether it’s from the original run almost two decades earlier or the recent revivals, the brand has always been about foil, acetate and pattern variations. 2017 Topps High Tek Baseball is no different.





Rookies, veterans and retired players are all included on the checklist with lots of pattern variations. This is intended to provide a challenge for player collectors as they aim to build a full run with the different backgrounds.





Of course, it can be customized as well should other collectors simply like one card for each number, no matter the pattern. Or, some can take it to extremes and go for the full master set, something a handful are still trying to do for the original sets.

On top of the regular pattern variations, 2017 Topps High Tek Baseball cards have more traditional parallels as well. Each box comes with five total Blackout parallels, four from Pattern 1 and one Pattern 2. Other base parallels, all of which are serial numbered, include Tidal Diffractors, Green Rainbow (/99), Blue Rainbow (/50), Orange Magma Diffractors (/25), Red Orbit Diffractor (/10), and Gold Galactic Diffractors (1/1).





Select cards have Image Variations that are numbered to 50 copies each and done with a Magma Diffractor pattern. They also have one-of-one Gold Galactic Diffractor versions.

Autographs

High Tek Autographs make up the bulk of the signed content in 2017 Topps High Tek Baseball. Signed on-card, these use the same basic design as the main set.





Like base cards, parallels are plentiful. Among them are Green Rainbow, Blackout, Blue Rainbow (/50), Orange Magma Diffractor (/25), Red Orbit Diffractor (/10), and Gold Galactic Diffractor (1/1).





Original Topps Tek cards released between 1998 and 2000 are the foundation for Tek Buyback Autographs. Signatures have been added and the cards are have been numbered to 10.




Inserts

In addition to the autographs, variations and parallels, 2017 Topps High Tek Baseball has a trio of regular insert sets. All are numbered to 50 and all themes are new to the product.

Rookie Tek highlights top first-year players with a different design and a Magma Diffractor pattern.





The night sky is the backdrop for TwiliTEK, which includes veterans and key rookies.

Finally, there’s Jubilations, which uses images from player celebrations.


All three of the insert sets have Gold Galactic Diffractor parallels (1/1). Select cards also have autographed versions.
