2018-19 Panini Crown Royale Basketball has the brand return for another year with many of the themes (including Silhouettes) it’s known for. Kaboom! inserts are also joining the party.





2018-19 Panini Crown Royale Basketball Overview


The die-cut crown design is back again for the base set. This is one of Crown Royale’s most distinct features going back to its earliest days at Pacific. Crystals parallels return in a variety of forms and quantities.

Silhouettes come in different but similar versions for both rookies and veterans, all of which feature oversized memorabilia swatches and on-card autographs. Prime and Super Prime parallels add premium patches and smaller print runs.






Rookie Jersey Autographs return. As one might expect, there are parallels like Super Prime.







Crown Autographs combine die-cuts and signatures.






2018-19 Panini Crown Royale Basketball has additional memorabilia-only inserts for both rookies and veterans. Some of the scarcest versions have things like jersey tags.







It’s not just traditional hits in 2018-19 Panini Crown Royale Basketball. There’s also traditional several inserts that come with big designs. Pacific Marquee highlights the NBA’s “box office stars” with a background mimicking the facade of a theater.






Rare Kaboom! cards, which have a cartoon-like appearance, feature 25 of the NBA’s biggest names. The illustrated inserts return to basketball for the first time since 2016-17 Panini Excalibur.







Power in the Paint has the NBA’s top post players.







Even more die-cut designs can be found in such inserts as Mamba’s Choice, Panini’s Choice and Rookie Royalty.

It’s been called a product fit for a king, and for good reason. Panini America’s regal Crown Royale Basketball franchise has been a dominant, die-cut force in the basketball card kingdom for a number of years, what with its trademark Silhouettes and Rookie Silhouettes and that funky crown-cut base set. And in two short days, the product will make its triumphant debut for the new season. On average, each hobby box of 2018-19 Crown Royale Basketball (12 cards per box, 16 boxes per case) will deliver one autograph, one memorabilia card and two inserts or parallels.


Up to six Hot Boxes per case will deliver a bonus second autograph. Other big drivers for 2018-19 Crown Royale Basketball include the super-rare Kaboom! chase (falling roughly once every other case) and the aforementioned Silhouettes and Rookie Silhouettes. The base-set parallels should be popular with player collectors with a variety of parallels including Crystal (numbered to 99), Crystal Red (numbered to 49), Crystal Purple (numbered to 25), Crystal Gold (numbered to 10) and Crystal Platinum 1/1s.
