2019 Bowman Sterling Baseball see the autograph-heavy brand return as a standalone set. And while the autographs are still plenty, the configuration has been tweaked since it last appeared. Hobby boxes come with five packs. Each pack has one autograph.

2019 Bowman Sterling Baseball Base Set Basics


The base set is similar to recent Bowman Draft releases in that it’s entirely rookies and prospects. Each has 50 cards for 100 total.







Done on chromium stock, that means Refractors and lots of them. These start with basic Refractors, which are numbered to 199. Other Refractor versions include Speckle (/99), Gold (/50), Blue (/25), Black Atomic (/10), Red (/5) and Superfractors (1/1). One-of-one Printing Plates are also available.


For some Bowman Sterling sets in the past, autographs outnumbered base cards. This is one of the most noticeable configuration changes for 2019. Base cards, parallels and inserts fall five per pack versus the one signature.


Autographs and Inserts



Prospect and Rookie Autographs make up the bulk of the signatures in 2019 Bowman Sterling Baseball. Not only do the adopt the base set design, but they borrow a similar Refractor lineup as well. Regular Refractors have 150 copies. From there, versions are Wave (/125), Speckle (/99), Orange (/75), Gold (/50), Blue (/25), Black Atomic (/10), Red (/5) and Superfractors (1/1).








Sterling Die-Cut Autographs are a case hit with a checklist that highlights top prospects and rookies. Parallels are Blue Refractors (/25), Red Refractors (/5) and Superfractors (1/1).








Dual (/25) and Triple Refractor Autographs (/25) come with multiple signatures. Parallels are tough: Black Atomic Refractors (/10), Canary Diamond Refractors (/3), Red Refractors (1/1) and Superfractors (1/1).







Sterling Retrospect inserts go back 15 years, using the 2004 Bowman Sterling base design as its inspiration. This is one of the places to find veterans. Regular versions has 99 copies each while parallels come in the form of Gold Refractors (/50), Blue Refractors (/25), Black Atomic Refractors (/10), Red Refractors (/5), Printing Plates (1/1) and Superfractors (1/1). Select cards have autographs as well that have no more than 50 copies. These have four levels of Refractors with print runs ranging from 25 down to one-of-one.






The last time Bowman Sterling had its own baseball set was in 2014. The name has been used a couple of time for inserts in various Bowman sets. Topps announced at their Industry Conference in February that the returning line is replacing Bowman High Tek on their release calendar.
