2019-20 Panini Origins Basketball follows a lot of the same beats as its football counterpart. After getting a limited number of autographs in 2018-19 Chronicles, Origins makes a full-fledged hardcourt debut as a standalone set.
Autographs and memorabilia cards are among the key components, but there’s also the ethereal designs that have been with the line from the beginning.
Hobby boxes come with just one pack. In it? A rookie jersey autograph, another signature or swatch a pair of parallels and three additional cards.
2019-20 Panini Origins Basketball Overview
The one-per-box Rookie Jersey Autographs use oversized memorabilia pieces. Turquoise (/25), Gold (/10), Green (/5) and Black (1/1) versions feature prime swatches.
More first-year ink is available in both Origins Autographs Silver Ink and Rookie Autographs. A total of 40 rookies have on-card autographs in the release.
Origins has a couple of book card rarities as well. As one can probably guess, Rookie Booklet Auto Patch cards open up to showcase on-card ink and memorabilia. The patch on these is extremely big, taking up one panel of the card.
Six Star Signatures (/10 or less) have autographs from six rookies. Despite the large number, these are still hard signed directly on the card.
But it’s not just the NBA’s newest player with signatures in the product. The Autographs checklist has veterans and pros from the past.
Rookie Jumbo Jerseys are among the memorabilia-only inserts in Origins.

2019-20 Panini Origins Basketball Variations are sneaky. They don’t jump out at you quickly as being different. But they are out there and they should be something to look for if you’re busting packs of the brand’s standalone hoops debut.
