2020 Topps Triple Threads Baseball is another release from a long-running line that knows its identity. It’s a product that cuts right to the chase, guaranteeing low-numbered hits in every pack. If you’ve busted Triple Threads before, you can expect something similar again here from the types and combinations of autographs and memorabilia card to the layouts and pack configurations.


2020 Topps Triple Threads hobby boxes come in the form of two single-pack mini boxes. Inside each mini box is three base cards, two parallels, an autograph or autographed relic and a memorabilia card. Across a full hobby box there’s a triple relic autograph, another autograph, a jumbo relic and a triple relic. Autographed memorabilia cards and relics have no more than 99 copies each. Many have far fewer.

2020 Topps Triple Threads Baseball Autographs


Triple Threads Autograph Relic Combo cards are one of the brand’s cornerstones. These have signatures and memorabilia from three different players. Base versions have 36 copies while additional parallels can be found with Amethyst (/27), Emerald (/18), Gold (/9), Sapphire (/3), Printing Plates (1/1) and Ruby (1/1).


These aren’t the only cards in 2020 Topps Triple Threads Baseball with signatures from three players. Historic Ties Autograph Relics pair players from different eras. Touch ‘Em All Three-Player Autograph Relics combine ink and pieces of bases from three power-hitting teammates. For both of these, base versions are numbered to 9. Sapphire (/3) and Ruby (1/1) versions are also available.







Another staple are the Triple Threads Autograph Relics (/18). These are the cards that use die-cut windows for the memorabilia to spell out things like names, nicknames, stats and other adjectives one could attach to the player. This format also allows for some players to have multiple cards on the checklist.








Parallels come in a handful of forms, all with low print runs: Gold (/9), Sapphire (/3), Printing Plates (1/1), Ruby (1/1) and Wood (1/1).









Autograph Single Jumbo Relics (/99) have pieces of player-worn gear. Joining the base are Amethyst (/75), Emerald (/50), Gold (/25), Sapphire (/10) and Ruby (1/1) versions.









Rookie Autographs are the only autographs in 2020 Topps Triple Threads Baseball that aren’t accompanied by memorabilia. Parallels for these are available in Emerald (/50), Gold (/25), Sapphire (/10), Printing Plates (1/1) and Ruby (1/1).







One-of-one Cut Above cards return. These take the cut signature concept and add a piece of memorabilia.


Relics


Triple Threads Relic cards come in three similar but different forms. In each case, three pieces of memorabilia are the highlight. Regular Triple Threads Relics (/36) have a current player. Triple Threads Relics Legends (/36) look to the past. Combo cards (/36) have swatches from three players. All three have additional Amethyst (/27), Emerald (/18), Gold (/9), Sapphire (/3) and Ruby (1/1) parallels.








A couple of autograph relic themes have strictly memorabilia versions as well. Touch ‘Em All (/18) has three players with game-used base pieces. Historic Ties Relics (/9) feature players from different generations.








Triple Threads All-Star Patches (/9) bring pieces from jerseys used in conjunction with activities from the mid-summer classic. In a similar (but more rare) vein, there are one-of-one All-Star Majestic Logo Patch cards.


Jumbo Relics (/36) have oversized swatches. According to Topps’ initial information for the set, these use pieces from player-worn jerseys as opposed to game-used. Parallels include Amethyst (/27), Emerald (/18), Gold (/9), Sapphire (/3) and Ruby (1/1).  


Book Cards


Booklets bring bigger pieces of memorabilia as well as some from distinct parts of jerseys. Letter Plus Autograph Relics Book (/3) cards have a letter from a jersey nameplate, two additional patches and the signature.


Similar memorabilia-only book card themes include Jumbo Letter/Number/Logo (1/1), and Letter Plus (/3).


Autograph Deca Relic Book cards (/10) go for a bulk approach with ten pieces of memorabilia and ink from one player. Autograph Deca Relic Combo versions (/10) bulk things up even more with signatures from ten players. Deca Relic Combo Book cards (/10) don’t have the signatures but they still have swatches from ten players.


Windows Into Greatness Autograph Relic Books (/5) open up twice to become a three-panel card highlighting one player. These also have a version that doesn’t have an autograph. Base are numbered to 10 with additional Gold (/5) and Ruby (1/1) parallels.


All-Star jerseys are the basis for a handful of one-of-a-kind book cards: Jumbo ASG Patch, Sleeve Team Patch, Laundry Tag, and Nameplate Books are all available.


Dual Cut Above Autograph Book cards are like two Cut Above cards in one. These one-of-a-kind cards have cut signatures and memorabilia from two players.


2020 Topps Triple Threads Baseball does have a small number of bat knobs. These one-of-ones come in a booklet format.  


2020 Topps Triple Threads Baseball Base Set Basics


This is a product where most eyes and attention are going to go directly to the fancy stuff. But there is a base set and, historically, it’s one of the more intricate and premium base designs of the year. For 2020, it’s a 100-card main set with just three cards per pack.






Parallels, which are two per pack, come in the following:

• Onyx – /50
• Sapphire – /25

• Ruby – 1/1

Rookies & Future Phenoms Autographed Relics (/99) expand the base set further. The signature on these are joined by three swatches. Parallels here include Amethyst (/75), Emerald (/50), Onyx (/35), Sapphire (/10), Printing Plates (1/1), Ruby (1/1) and Wood (1/1).
