Among MLB’s young stars right now, there are a lot of big personalities. Think of 2021 Topps Inception Baseball as the sports card equivalent of that. As usual for the brand, youth is the focus on the checklist. When you dig into the design elements, they’re definitely big. And colorful. And in-your-face in a deliberate sort of way.


The hobby product keeps boxes small with just seven cards. It’s not all hits, though. There’s just one autograph (or autograph relic) per hobby box.


2021 Topps Inception Baseball Checklist Overview

The shell set features 100 players. And while collectors can look for lots of rookies, there is veteran content as well. Rookie Cards draw from the large number of debuts from the late-starting 2020 season.






It’s another abstract sort of look for Inception. Similar to 2020, it’s more on the art side rather than casting players in stylized clouds or space like some of the line’s earlier releases.

Base parallels, which combine to land two per box, include:

• Green
• Purple – /150
• Magenta – /99
• Red – /75
• Orange – /50
• Blue – /25
• Inception – 1/1
  

Complimenting the base set are Rookie and Emerging Stars Autographs.


Like Triple Threads’ Rookies and Future Phenoms, the numbering on these may be different but they’re generally considered to be part of the base checklist. Green (/125), Magenta (/99), Red (/75), Orange (/50), Blue (/25) and Inception (1/1) make up the parallel lineup for these.








Autographs

The bold designs continue throughout 2021 Topps Inception Baseball’s various autographs and signature relics.


Silver Signings are a case hit getting their name for the metallic ink used for the signatures. Parallels switch it up a bit as far as the pen color with Gold Ink (/25) and one-of-one Gold Ink Inception.


Dawn of Greatness autographs center on superstar veterans and legends from the past. However, keeping with the product’s youthful theme, the focus for images is on the early parts of their respective careers. Base versions are tough pull with just 20 copies each. Additional Orange (/10), Blue (/5) and Inception (1/1) versions are also available.








Available in even smaller numbers are Short Print Autographs. These are numbered to 10.


Every 16-box case of 2021 Topps Inception Baseball averages four Inception Autograph Patch cards. These have swatches from uniforms that are player-worn, not necessarily game-used. Parallels include Green (/99 or less), Magenta (/75 or less), Red (/25), Orange (/10), Blue Button (/6), and Inception (1/1), which used a patch from a manufacturer’s logo.







Inception Jumbo Autograph Patch cards land approximately one per case. These opt for an even bigger swatch and small numbers. Red (/50), Orange (/25), Blue (/10) and Inception Team Logo (1/1) are the other versions for these.


Autograph Relic Book Cards

The checklist has a handful of autograph-relic-book card combinations. Among them are Team Logo Patch and Letter Patch autographs, which have five copies each. Laundry Tag and MLB Silhouetted Batter Logo Patch autograph books are all one-of-a-kind.







Autograph Game Socks Relics use Stance socks as the memorabilia of choice. These have three copies each as well as one-of-one Inception parallels.


Numbering is similar for Dual Autograph Relic Book cards that have autographs and jumbo memorabilia from two players.


Rounding out the checklist are new Gameday Gear Autograph Relic Books (/5). These open up to include three total panels with patch, sock and cap swatches to go with the signature.
