Panini America‘s next baseball set will feature a lower suggested-retail price and more on-card autographs than ever for the brand.

It’s 2014 Panini Prizm, and it will include two autographs in every $60 hobby box. At least one of those will be signed directly on the card.

This year, the autograph rainbow will include Purple (/99), Mojo (/75 or fewer copies), Gold (/10) and 1/1 Black Prizm cards for collectors to chase. USA Baseball Signatures cards will be found in three colors with standard Prizms limited to 25, Golds limited to 10 and Blacks being 1/1 creations.

Every box will include a Prizm parallel in every other pack with three numbered Prizm cards per hobby box. There will be Purple (/99), Blue Mojo (/75), Orange Diecut (/60), Jackie Robinson Tribute (/42), Red (/25), Gold (/10) and 1/1 Black parallels for collectors to chase.

Among the signers for this one will include Manny Machado, Mike Trout, new Hall of Famers Tom Glavine and Greg Maddux, Pedro Martinez, Buster Posey, Clayton Kershaw, Jose Fernandez, Pete Rose, Mariano Rivera and plenty more.

The Best Prizm Yet? Panini America Offers a Sneak Peek at 2014 Prizm Baseball Autos



As you read this, Panini America’s baseball brand team is steadfastly working on what just might be the most impressive Prizm-branded release to date. And when you consider just how strong the Prizm brand has become in a few short years, well, that’s saying something. When 2014 Prizm Baseball arrives next month, it will benefit immeasurably from all the things collectors covet: More Prizm parallel colors, a lower SRP and a more limited production run.

But it’s likely that collectors will find the most striking aspect of 2014 Prizm Baseball to be the new Prizm colors and die-cuts. From Purples (numbered to 99) and Mojos (numbered to 75) to the die-cut Signature Distinctions, there’s a lot new to like.

We provide a comprehensive preview of just some of the spectacular on-card autographs that have arrived for 2014 Prizm Baseball so far. But before we get to the eye candy, here are just a few highlights of the new-and-improved Prizm:

• USA Baseball Signatures with Prizm (#’d/25), Gold Prizm (#’d/10) and Black Finite Prizm 1/1 parallels.
• On-card autographs from the likes of Mike Trout, Manny Machado, Jose Fernandez, Buster Posey, Clayton Kershaw, Chris Davis, David Ortiz, Dustin Pedroia, Greg Maddux, Tom Glavine, Pete Rose, George Brett, Mariano Rivera, Ken Griffey Jr., Cal Ripken Jr., Chipper Jones, George Brett and more.

The Panini America Quality Control Gallery: 2014 Prizm Baseball (117 Must-See Pics)

After months of buildup and bubbling anticipation, 2014 Prizm Baseball is on the verge of releasing. As a result, the product packed out late last week and based on the results of that process, it’s clear that 2014 Prizm Baseball is easily the most colorful edition of the popular brand. It just might be the most collectible, too.
Featuring a bold, new array of vaunted Prizm parallels (including psychedelic-seeming Mojo and Blue Mojo patterns), 2014 Prizm Baseball is equipped to shine on multiple fronts. From the way-cool, hobby-only Jackie Robinson Tribute Prizms to the triumphantly returning Gold Prizms to some unique die-cuts to a slew of current, all-time and future star autograph signers, there’s clearly a lot to like — and most of it is previewed in some form in the Quality Control Gallery that follows.


Each 12-pack hobby box of 2014 Prizm Baseball delivers two autographs and six Prizm parallels. The product releases May 21 and you can bet that we’ll have plenty more to preview right here on The Knight’s Lance between now and then. Glove Story: Panini America Appreciates the Golden Leather of 2014 Prizm Baseball



OK, so I figured I’d use this particular blog post to not just preview what I believe to be the sweetest insert set in Panini America’s new 2014 Prizm Baseball; I thought I’d also use it to lobby the powers that be inside professional baseball to perhaps at least consider adding tiers to the game’s annual fielding award. And I’d use the majestic Golden Leather insert as my shining, hypnotic example.

So, in addition to the Gold Glove Award earned by the game’s slickest fielders every season, there could be, say, Blue Mojo Glove and Finite Black Glove awards, too. Those are just two tantalizing elements that trophy presenters could learn from a box of 2014 Prizm Baseball. But there are more.


Like Red . . . and Purple . . . and Orange and . . .. Look, I’m not suggesting that these new awards be serially numbered like their Prizm Baseball counterparts . . . but they could be.
