Circle “September 24″ on your calendar. It promises to be a history-maker. It’s the day Panini America’s 2014 Prizm Football arrives in hobby shops across North America and ushers in a bold, new parallel universe in the process. Make no mistake about it: 2014 Prizm Football is decidedly more colorful than any Prizm product has ever been — and that’s a good thing.

2014 Prizm Football promises to raise the creative bar in terms of what’s possible using Optichrome technology with the likes of Pink Ribbon BCA Prizms (hobby-jumbo exclusive), NFL Prizms, Team Logo Prizms, Panini Prizms, and my personal favorite Tie-Dye Prizms. The product also packs bold new color schemes, fun-funky new die-cuts and designs tailored specifically to accentuate the ever-enchanting Prizm technology.


In all, the hobby edition of 2014 Prizm Football will offer 11 unique Prizm parallel chases (including the hobby-only Green and Neon Green-Yellow Prizms). Every hobby box (four cards per pack, 20 packs per box) will deliver one to two autographs, a robust 11 Prizm parallels (two base Prizms, one Panini Prizm, one Orange Prizm, one Neon Green-Yellow Prizm, one Rookie Prizm and five additional Prizms), 2o Rookie Cards and one Rookie Card Photo Variation SP; each hobby box also will yield one Fresh Faces, one Introductions, one Believe the Hype, one Hands Team and one Air Marshals. In addition to the aforementioned Rookie Card Photo Variation SPs, there are also Rookie Card Photo Variation SSPs.

The 2014 Prizm Football retail configuration features three retail-only Prizms (Red, Blue and Green) and the average box (four cards per pack, 24 packs per box) will deliver one autograph, 14 Prizm parallels, 24 Rookie Cards, one Rookie Card Photo Variation SP, two Fresh Faces, one Introduction, one Believe the Hype, one Hands Team and one Air Marshals.

Prizm Uncut: Panini America Dives Between the Sheets with 2014 Prizm Football



Panini America created quite a splash a few weeks back with the preliminary first look at a completely revamped Prizm Football for the 2014 season — and that splash had quite a lot to do with the staggering amount of colors planned for 2014 Prizm Football when it releases early next month. Boasting more Prizm parallels than ever before, the product promises to have player collectors chasing the Prizm rainbow all season long.

In addition to the traditional Prizm inclusions such as Green and Blue, 2014 Prizm Football also will deliver exciting new Prizm versions such as Team Logo, NFL, Panini, BCA Pink, Neon Yellow/Green and the technicolor beauty of Tie-Dye Prizms. From the beginning, the Prizm technology always has been more mesmerizing in person than on a mocked-up digital image. Uncut sheets, however, can often tell a different story. That’s certainly the case today.


Yesterday, we got the glorious opportunity to spend some quality time between the uncut sheets of 2014 Prizm Football, including our first live look at some of the aforementioned new Prizms. The gallery below offers a glimpse into what we saw and should set the stage for the glory to come when the product arrives in early October.

Panini America Appreciates the Many Colors of 2014 Prizm Football (Must-See Gallery)



The collecting rainbow is coming. Next week, Panini America officials will unleash a boldly revamped Prizm Football to a passionate collecting audience that has often requested additional versions of the set’s popular Prizm parallels to chase. 2014 Prizm Football — with hobby, with hobby jumbos and with an assortment of retail SKUs — answers the call in a huge way by delivering an unparalleled array of parallels; a captivating and colorful concoction that promises to keep player collectors happily hunting for the rest of the season.

In the gallery below, we do our best to showcase the brilliance of the Prizm technology in all of its colorful forms, including NFL Shield, Camouflage, Team Logo, Neon Green/Yellow, Gold, Red, Orange, Panini, BCA Pink and the utter magnificence of Tie-Dye. But mere photographs can only illustrate so much. We can all agree that the best way to enjoy Prizm is to hold the cards in the palm of your hand, which you’ll get the chance to do beginning next Wednesday. But until then, these images will have to do.

Panini America Sheds Light on Rookie Card Variations within 2014 Prizm Football



Now that collectors have had almost two weeks to appreciate Panini America’s 2014 Prizm Football, many of them have begun gravitating toward the many Rookie Card variations randomly inserted in the set. The existence of SP and SSP variations within 2014 Prizm Football was certainly no secret. The concept was communicated during the product solicitation process. But exactly which players had variations, and how many each had, has prompted many astute collectors to start asking some questions. Today, we’re going to start providing some answers.

In all 10 players have Rookie Card photo variations in 2014 Prizm Football. Five of those players (Johnny Manziel, Sammy Watkins, Blake Bortles, Teddy Bridgewater and Mike Evans) are featured on one base RC and four variations. Five more (Jadeveon Clowney, AJ McCarron, Derek Carr, Jimmy Garoppolo and Tom Savage) are featured on one base RC and two variations. That’s 30 total variations varying in scarcity from SP to SSP.


According to Panini America Football Brand Manager Tim Trout, the SPs were randomly inserted at a rate of one per box; the SSPs were randomly inserted at a rate of roughly one in every three to four cases. The following gallery will serve as your visual road map through all 40 cards (10 base RCs, 30 variations).
