Elite Extra Edition is back.

Panini America announced on Tuesday that its annual prospecting staple will return for 2013  with a 100-card set, autographs, diecuts, parallels and more in store when it arrives on Jan. 9.

Packing six autographs, six inserts and two additional serial-numbered diecut cards per 20-pack hobby box, EEE will present all of the things that fans of the long-running brand have come to expect in what Panini touts as “the industry’s most-complete draft pick set.”



Along with the 100-card set there will be 100 Franchise Future parallel autos — with blue-, red- and green-ink versions — as well as 100 more autographed prospects each serial-numbered to no more than 899 cards. Reds will be limited to 25, while Greens will be limited to 10.

Also back, as usual, will be diecut parallels — both signed and unsigned — with numbering that will vary from player to player. A different inclusion in this year’s release will be USA Baseball autos for the 18U and 15U squads, future potential years before they are potentially drafted.

Each 20-box case will include four Hot Boxes that pack 10 autos into every box.

Among the other inclusions in this one will be Elite Series Signatures, which will showcase prospects of note and be limited to no more than 199 serial-numbered copies, while also to be found are Historic Picks Signatures, which are autographs of past players. Just 10 players will get showcased here.

Among the prospects signing for this one will be No. 1 pick Mark Appel, Golden Spikes winner Kris Bryant, the White Sox’ Cuban signee Jose Abreu and more.

That undeniable buzz radiating all around you right now could be associated with the scintillating weekend of NFL playoff football we just witnessed and the madness known as #PaniniWildCard that accompanied it. Of course, it could also be a direct result of the intense anticipation surrounding this week’s release of Panini America’s 2013 America’s Pastime Baseball and 2013 Elite Extra Edition Baseball.

We offered an extended sneak peek at America’s Pastime last week. today, we’re fixing our gazing on the highly anticipated Elite Extra Edition, annually one of the most coveted and consequential prospect products on the baseball landscape. Although this year’s installment features several striking additions (such as unique die-cutting, a rainbow array of parallels and compelling USA Baseball content), the time-tested recipe that was worked so well for EEE over the years remains intact: Autographs of the game’s brightest young prospects — and lots of them.

Most boxes of 2013 Elite Extra Edition Baseball will deliver six autographs, but four Hot Boxes per case will yield 10; Red (limited to 25) and Green (limited to 10) ink variations return as well. In all, more than 30 first-round picks from the 2013 Draft signed for the product. Also on the autograph checklist? Ryan Garvey, Dereck Rodriguez and Hunter Harvey, sons of former big-league All-Stars Steve, Ivan and Bryan, respectively.

Panini America Offers Redemption Details for 2013 Elite Extra Edition Baseball



Last week’s release of 2013 Elite Extra Edition Baseball marked the return of a new year of baseball prospecting’s most relevant and in-demand products. As has become custom, the latest installment of a product affectionately dubbed “EEE” by hardcore enthusiasts delivers high value due to an autograph roster filled with a quantity of quality.

In the days between 2013 Elite Extra Edition packing out and going live, several key signers returned their autographs for the set to Panini America. So while the players listed below were included in the product as redemption cards initially, collectors can take solace in the fact that the autograph cards are already being sent to collectors holding redemptions.

Key late arrivals include Andrew Thurman, Dereck Rodriguez (Franchise Future Signatures; the remainder of Rodriguez’ autographs packed out initially), Nick Ciuffo, Dustin Peterson, Hunter Green, Rosell Herrera and Tim Atherton.

Speaking of 2013 Elite Extra Edition redemption cards, a production error on EEE redemption cards themselves led to an incorrect deadline date being printed on the cards. The incorrect date printed on all 2013 EEE Baseball redemption cards is June 9, 2014. The correct redemption deadline for 2013 Elite Extra Edition Baseball — as printed on both the product boxes and overwrap — is June of 2015.
